‘Worst auction day in 30 years’

When SQM Research released its auction data for the week of the 19th of July, it held one of the weakest results since its records began.
In Sydney, the market produced the weakest result of this cycle (excluding public holiday-impacted results and the Christmas market hibernation period), with a clearance rate of just 29.4%, a stark contrast to the 53.6% recorded on the same weekend last year.
This marks the worst result for the Sydney market since the 19th of April 2020, near the absolute height of the pandemic.
