Dan Andrews’ Suburban Rail Loop must be cancelled

Pressure continues to build on new Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, to cancel former Premier Dan Andrews’ Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) project.

Natasha Bradshaw from the Grattan Institute has called for Allan to cancel the SRL, noting that the project’s cost had blown out to between $150 billion to $200 billion, while the economic benefits are estimated to be only $50 billion to $60 billion.

Bradshaw has also asked the new Allan government to take Infrastructure Victoria’s and Infrastructure Australia’s suggestions seriously, given neither had put the SRL on their priority projects lists.
