Australia’s $1.5m Vice-Chancellor wants free university

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Duncan Maskell, is the nation’s highest paid university vice-chancellor with an eye-watering salary of $1.5 million.

The University of Melbourne is a registered charity and does not pay land tax on its impressive property portfolio of nearly 200 buildings across Carlton and Parkville.

Maskell this week called on the federal government to make university free for students.
