Labor MPs break ranks to seek dole increase

The Albanese Government is facing growing pressure from within its own ranks to increase the JobSeeker payment in the budget on 9 May.

Dan Repacholi, Peta Murphy and Julian Hill are among the latest batch of Labor backbenchers to call for an increase in unemployment benefits.

A number of other Labor MPs recently signed an open letter co-ordinated by the Australian Council of Social Service that called for a substantial increase in JobSeeker.
