Youth unemployment jumps out of lockdowns

Yesterday’s employment report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed that Australian youth unemployment surged after NSW, Victoria and the ACT exited lockdowns.

While total youth jobs rose by 13,000 in October, driven by a 13,300 increase in part-time jobs, partly offset by a 300 reduction in full-time jobs:

The youth unemployment rate surged by 2.3% to 13.1%:
