Job listings continue to dive

Callam Pickering, economist at global jobs site Indeed, has updated his job listings series, which has continued to worsen, down 54% from the same time last year:

Meanwhile, Pickering gave a Q&A interview with the Daily Telegraph, where he claimed that Australia’s jobs market could take years to recover:

Even when these lockdowns are lifted, the economy will likely be weak for a number of years. In our last recession, it took around a decade for the unemployment rate to return to its pre-recession level. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of workers, young and old alike, who struggle to find their way back to employment…
