WA feels wrath of falling mining investment

The ABS has released engineering construction data for the September quarter of 2016, which revealed a 4.7% seasonally adjusted fall in the value of work done over the quarter, a 23.9% fall over the year, and an ongoing reduction in the construction pipeline.

According to the ABS, private sector engineering construction fell by 7.6% over the September quarter, partly offset by a 0.8% increase in public sector construction (see below chart).
