WA feels wrath of falling mining investment

The ABS has released engineering construction data for the June quarter of 2016, which revealed a 9.9% seasonally adjusted fall in the value of work done over the quarter, a 25.9% fall over the year, and an ongoing reduction in the construction pipeline.

According to the ABS, private sector engineering construction fell by 14.8% over the June quarter, partly offset by a 1.7% increase in public sector construction (see below chart).
