Mining construction still has much further to fall

The ABS has released engineering construction data for the March quarter of 2016, which revealed a 1.4% seasonally adjusted fall in the value of work done over the quarter, a 10.9% fall over the year, and an ongoing reduction in the construction pipeline.

According to the ABS, private sector engineering construction fell by 3.3% over the March quarter, partly offset by a 3.3% increase in public sector construction (see below chart).
