The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released visitor arrivals and departures data for the month of March, which registered a resumption of falls in annual immigration.

In the year to March 2016, there were 681,840 permanent and long-term arrivals into Australia – down 4,390 from February 2016 and well down from the record 792,500 arrivals set in the year to January 2013 – partly offset by 407,460 permanent and long-term departures from Australia (see next chart).
