Kiwis dash home as unemployment tumbles

Statistics New Zealand has this morning released its labour force data for the December quarter, with employment growth strengthening, and the unemployment rate crashing to 5.3% from 6.0% in September. The key changes are outlined in the below table:

As shown above, employment rose 0.9% in the December quarter, whereas the unemployment rate plummeted to 5.3%, assisted by a 0.3% decrease in the labour force participation rate.
