QLD electricity demand rockets on LNG

The Australia Institute (TAI) has released its brand new Carbon Emissions Index (CEDEX) report, which is the benchmark indicator for Australia’s carbon emissions and provides an up to date snapshot of vital data from the energy sector, along with accurate figures for total renewable energy produced in Australia, including all wind and solar.

According to the report, rooftop solar has been growing steadily in Australia:

Although it remains only a small contributor to Australia’s total electricity supply:

Total electricity generation in the year to September 2015 continued the steady growth of the past few months, but emissions were virtually unchanged:

Total demand again increased, driven entirely by the growth in Queensland, caused by the use of electricity in the production and pipeline transport of coal seam gas to the LNG plants at Gladstone:
