Retail sales fell in July

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released retail sales figures for the month of July, which registered a 0.1% seasonally-adjusted fall in sales over the month. However, annual sales growth clocked in at a solid (but slowing) 4.1%:

Consensus was for a 0.4% monthly rise, so sales easily missed expectations.
