Monthly inflation prints possible: ABS

News to excite the wonks and economists out there, but in all seriousness, the ABS does need to play catch up with the rest of the world and deliver a monthly CPI print. More so that the RBA has more relevant data at hand for its monthly interest rate meeting too.

From Bloomberg:

Australian Bureau of Statistics Head David Kalich say looking at releasing a monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI). Would need to scrap other releases to pay for it, would cost $A15 million a year.

Not a high price to pay. Maybe after that they can re-visit the basket of goods to reflect inflation in land and property values.
