CIS: Include housing in the Pension assets test

The Centre for Independent Studies (CIS) will today release a new report urging the federal government to include one’s principal place of residence (or part thereof) in the assets test to qualify for the Aged Pension, and then use some of the Budget savings to boost payments to poorer and more vulnerable pensioners. From The AFR:

“The way to boost pensioner living standards clearly lies in unlocking the savings in the family home – not in continually increasing pension spending”…
