Abbott throws howling East-West Link tantrum

You can’t fix stupid, I guess. Following the news yesterday that the Victorian Labor Government had struck a deal to cancel the East West Link toll road project, at a cost to Victorian taxpayers of $420 million, Prime Minister Tony Abbott launched a childish tantrum, claiming that the State Government has “recklessly” destroyed 7,000 jobs, added to traffic congestion and damaged Australia’s reputation for safe, reliable infrastructure investment. From The Canberra Times:

“The Victorian government’s decision to abrogate contractual responsibilities sets a dangerous precedent for future projects and threatens further investment in much-needed infrastructure in our country”…
