Minerals and petroleum exploration rises

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released its Mineral & Petroleum Exploration data for the December quarter, which revealed rises in both minerals and petroleum exploration expenditure.

Nationally, expenditure on minerals exploration rose by a seasonally-adjusted $6.4 million (1.5%) over the December quarter. The rise was driven by Queensland, where exploration expenditure rose by $9.1 million (10.6%):
