Employment program favours old, ignores young

The Australian is reporting today that special incentive payments announced in the May Budget provided to employers that take on workers over the age of 50 are proving successful in getting unemployed older Australians back to work:

The Restart program, launched in July, offers a subsidy to employers if they take on workers who are at least 50 years old.

So far 438 employers have taken part, with 11 hiring more than one jobseeker under scheme…
