The pros and cons of foreign property investment

The chief of one of China’s largest developers, Country Garden’s Johnson Zhang, has played down concerns that Chinese investment into Australian housing is driving-up home prices and shutting-out locals, instead arguing that there is plenty of second hand stock available for locals. From The AFR:

“I feel this debate has errors,” he said. “Remember, foreign investors including Asians can only buy new properties. There is a huge second-hand market with enough housing there for locals”…
