Western Australia’s premier, Mark McGowan, has resigned.

McGowan made the announcement to a crowded press conference at Perth’s Dumas House on the eve of his 30th year in parliament. His entire government was present.

“The truth is I’m tired, very tired, in fact I’m exhausted,” he admitted. I have been giving this a lot of thought, so please know that it is not a hasty decision. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as WA Labour Party leader.

I guess the Chinese were wrong. Mark McGowan is not the King of WA.
