Aussies “disengaging and moving on” from pandemic

There is concern that Australians are complacent about the need to remain inoculated against COVID-19, with less than 70% of people aged 16+ having received a booster shot. Likewise, only 53% of children under the age of 11 have received their first vaccine dose.

Professor Julie Leask from the University of Sydney believes that Australians are “disengaging and moving on” from the pandemic. She suggests, amongst other things, that people are not getting a booster as it has not been mandated by governments.
