Dwelling approvals brush aside COVID-19

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) yesterday released dwelling approvals data for the month of April. At the national level, the number of dwelling approvals fell by a seasonally adjusted 1.8% to 15,294. The overall decline in approvals was driven by units & apartments, which fell by 8.9%, whereas house approvals rose by 2.7%.

Over the year, dwelling approvals rose by 5.7%, with unit & apartment approvals rising 4.0% and house approvals rising by 4.9%:
