The ABS yesterday released its property price data for the December quarter, which valued Australia’s dwelling stock owned by households at $6.38 trillion, whereas the total housing stock was valued at a record $6.68 trillion.
As shown below, the total value of Australia’s dwelling stock owned by households was 7.16 times employee incomes as at December 2018, down from the peak of 7.76 times incomes in the June quarter of 2017, whereas the total housing stock was valued at 7.50 times employee incomes, down from 8.13 times incomes in June 2017:
